I currently have several openings for children 12 months and up.
My name is Jennifer and I have lived in Seymour, IN all my life. I am a member of the First Presbyterian Church where I have taught Sunday School and been a deacon. I have two children 17 and 8 years old.
I have operated Discovery Daycare since the birth of my son eight years ago. My previous experiences with children include teaching 3,4, and 5 year olds at Head Start. While at Head Start I developed and implemented age appropriate lesson plans. Prior to that I worked for First Steps with children from birth to the age of 3. Many of the children and parents had developmental delays, mental illnesses and other disabilities. Before that I worked with mentally ill and mentally challenged senior citizens for Developmental Services.
I completed my (CDA) child development associate in 2000 and also have 50+ credits complete through IUPUC with an emphasis in psychology. I have also been enrolled in classes for an early childhood degree with just a 6 more classes until I am done. I also have attended many workshops on behavior management, disabilities, and child development. I have approximately 17 years experience working with children. I am also participating in the Paths To Quality Program.
My goals in operating Discovery Daycare are to provide a safe, loving, Christian, learning environment for the children in my care. There is no smoking allowed on Discovery Daycare property. We also have an electrostatic air filter which helps with allergens and a UV light on furnance to help with germ control. We also do a lot of hand washing to prevent sickness. I believe all children should be respected and provided an opportunity to learn in their own individual style.
